...FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL OF SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS THROUGH 7 PM
SUNDAY...

.A STRONG UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM PRODUCED WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORMS
ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS AND THE HILL COUNTRY THIS
AFTERNOON INTO EVENING. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES SHOWED WIDESPREAD
RAINS OF GREATER THAN 2 INCHES ALONG AND WEST OF THE I-35 CORRIDOR
WITH RAINS GREATER THAN 6 TO AS HIGH AS 12 INCHES ACROSS
BANDERA...BLANCO AND KENDALL COUNTIES. ANOTHER BAND OF HEAVY RAINS
HAS DEVELOPED OVER THE RIO GRANDE AND EDWARDS PLATEAU WITH A SMALL
CLUSTER BETWEEN HONDO AND COTULLA. THESE WILL MOVE ACROSS SOUTH
CENTRAL TEXAS AND THE HILL COUNTRY OVERNIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING.
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL TOTALS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED WITH
ISOLATED ADDITIONAL TOTALS UP TO 5 INCHES POSSIBLE. THE ADDITIONAL
RAIN WILL ONLY AGGRAVATE ONGOING FLOODING AND LIKELY CREATE NEW
AREAS OF FLASH FLOODING.

BURNET...CALDWELL...COMAL...DE WITT...DIMMIT...EDWARDS... 
FAYETTE...FRIO...GILLESPIE...GONZALES...GUADALUPE...HAYS... 
KARNES...KENDALL...KERR...KINNEY...LAVACA...LEE...LLANO... 
MAVERICK...MEDINA...REAL...TRAVIS...UVALDE...VAL VERDE...

RIVERS AND STREAMS ARE ALSO ELEVATED. SOME OF THESE RIVERS AND 
STREAMS MAY REACH THEIR FLOOD STAGES VERY QUICKLY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

All persons with interests along the river should monitor 
the latest forecasts, and be prepared to take necessary 
precautions to protect life and property. 

River stage forecasts are based on observed rainfall along with 
predicted rain for the next 12 hours. If actual rainfall varies 
from forecast values, forecast river stages will vary. 

Do not drive automobiles through flooded areas. Remember, 18 inches 
of water or less can carry away most vehicles, including trucks. 

If you see flood waters or come upon a flooded roadway, remember 
to turn around and do not drown.

The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a 

* Flood Warning for the Guadalupe River Near Cuero.
* from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday morning...or until the warning is 
cancelled.
* At  7:30 PM Saturday the stage was 12.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river level will rise above flood stage by Tuesday early
afternoon and continue to rise to near 25.2 feet by Wednesday morning. The
river will fall below flood stage by Wednesday before midnight.
* Impact...At 24.0 feet...Minor lowland flooding extends into the left flood 
plain above Cuero. Floodplain under several feet of water in many places..
* FLOOD HISTORY...THIS CREST COMPARES TO A PREVIOUS CREST OF 25.4 feet on Jun 29 
1993.
