AT 220 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT CONTINUE TO DEVELOP ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA. THESE STORMS WILL GENERALLY MOVE TO THE EAST AT AROUND 15 MPH. SOME OF THE STRONGER STORMS FROM TIME TO TIME HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF PRODUCING BRIEF WIND GUSTS FROM 35 TO 45 MPH AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING. BRIEF AND LOCALIZED HEAVY DOWNPOURS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES CAN ALSO BE EXPECTED. IF OUTDOORS TODAY AND YOU HEAR THUNDER...BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO A PLACE OF SHELTER QUICKLY. IF DRIVING...BE PREPARED TO SLOW YOUR DRIVING SPEEDS IF YOU ENCOUNTER VISIBILITY REDUCING HEAVY RAIN. ROADWAYS WILL HAVE PONDING WATER WHICH CAN INCREASE THE POTENTIAL OF HYDROPLANING. IF CAUGHT ON THE OPEN WATER AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE IN OR NEAR YOUR AREA...BE PREPARED TO MOVE BELOW DECK AND AWAY FROM UNGROUNDED METAL OBJECTS. VISIBILITIES COULD BE REDUCED RAPIDLY IN BRIEF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINS.
