29' - An unbelievable flood in progress. Water is at the outskirts of Lyons and Bloomfield. River cabins are totally destroyed. Most levees overtop. Transportation at a standstill in Greene County. U.S. 231 and SR 67 flooded. Portions of SR 57 north and south of Newberry washed out. Railroads washed away. Frantic sandbagging of the Elnora levee. Town of Plainville may flood depending on where the Big Bennington levee fails.
28.49' - First floor flooding of some residences in and near Newberry.
28' - Near record flood is in progress. River cabins completely flood. Water is nearing or over U.S. 231 and SR 57. Sandborn floods by river water. Flood waters enter a few houses and one grain bin in Newberry that is located on the riverside of railroad tracks. Water is at the outskirts of Lyons and Bloomfield.
26' - Levee in the Lyons-Marco area was sandbagged during the January 2005 flood.
25.5' - Levees in the Newberry area begin to fail. Water floods State Road 57 near Elnora.
25' - Water at the top of levees which protect nearly 30,000 acres. A major flood is in progress. Evacuations are necessary at Elnora. Backwater may become a problem in Sandborn.
24.6' - Estimated level at which water overtops levee at Elnora. During April 2025 flood, water was 6 inches from top of levee when Newberry crest just under 24.1 feet.
24' - Inside flooding of some residences begin. Some people are forced to leave because of flood waters. Water approaches but does not inundate the railroad tracks just southwest of Elnora.
23' - Water levels approach major flood. Homes begin to flood in Daviess and Knox counties. Railroad tracks north of Elnora may flood. A few houses in Newberry flood. High water affects homes in Daviess and Knox counties.
21' - Flood waters reach critical stage for McGinnis and Shufflebarger Levees.
20.5' - State Road 58 at Elnora floods.
20' - County Road 550 W in Green County is impassable.
19' - Extensive agricultural flooding is in progress. Some state and county roads flood. County Road 600 W just north of river flooded by possibly more than two feet of water for a considerable distance in Mary Long Cutoff Area. County Roads 900 W and 750 S begin to flood in Greene County.
18' - County Road 550 S in Greene County begins to flood. County Road 600 W just north of the river flooded by possibly more than a foot of water for a short distance in Mary Long Cutoff Area.
17' - Flood waters block access and begins to surround about 5 to 10 river cabins on south side of the river just southwest of Newberry.
16' - Higher bottomlands begin to flood.
15' - Most lowlands flood. A few inches of water on County Road 600 W just north of the river in Mary Long Cutoff Area.
13.5' - High water may affect CR 550 S in the Mary Long Cutoff area.
13' - Flooding of a few lowlands begins in Greene County.
