14.4' - (Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW)) The level reached on October 29, 2012 during Post Tropical Cyclone Sandy. This is an estimated value. The tide gauge failed at 13.23 feet MLLW about an hour before the actual high water level occurred. A USGS high water mark about 1,500 feet away from the gauge was used to reconstruct the crest.
10.08' - (MLLW) The level reached during Hurricane Donna on September 12, 1960 and during the northeaster on December 11, 1992.
9.76' - (MLLW) The level reached during Hurricane Irene on August 28, 2011.
9.69' - (MLLW) The level reached on November 7, 1953.
9.39' - (MLLW) The level reached during the hurricane of September 14, 1944 and on March 6, 1962.
9.03' - (MLLW) The level reached on March 13, 2010.
8.99' - (MLLW) The level reached on November 25, 1950.
8.89' - (MLLW) The level reached on January 23, 1966.
8.88' - (MLLW) The level reached on December 23, 2022.
8.81' - (MLLW) The level reached on November 12, 1968.
8.76' - (MLLW) The level reached on October 27, 2018.
8.7' - (MLLW) MAJOR FLOODING. At this level, flooding starts to become severe enough to begin causing structural damage along with widespread flooding of roadways in Middletown Township, Atlantic Highlands, Highlands, Rumson and Sea Bright. Vulnerable homes and businesses may be severely damaged or destroyed as water levels rise further above this threshold. Numerous roads become impassable and some neighborhoods may be isolated.
7.7' - (MLLW) MODERATE FLOODING. At this level, widespread flooding of roadways begins due to high water and/or wave action with many roads becoming impassable in Middletown Township, Atlantic Highlands, Highlands, Rumson and Sea Bright. Lives may be at risk when people put themselves in harm's way. Some damage to vulnerable structures may begin to occur. COASTAL FLOOD WARNING LEVEL.
7.5' - (MLLW) Flooding begins along sections of NJ Route 36 in Middletown Township as water backs up into tidal streams in the community. Flooding begins along the access road to the Gateway National Recreation Area's Sandy Hook Unit. Flooding reaches the intersection of Ocean Avenue (NJ Route 36) and River Street in Sea Bright as well as the 300 and 1400 blocks of Ocean Avenue (NJ Route 36).
7' - (MLLW) COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY LEVEL.
6.9' - (MLLW) Flooding begins in Middletown Township, Highlands and Rumson.
6.7' - (MLLW) MINOR FLOODING. Flooding begins in Sea Bright.
