36' - The 1 Percent Chance Flood event was determined to be 36.6 feet at Newport. Stage of 35.9 feet experienced April 1945, prior to the completion of flood control reservoirs upstream.
34' - White River crested in December 1982 and March 2008 at 34 feet. Railroad Bridge downstream of Newport overtopped. Serious flooding in Jacksonport and Newport. Homes along State Highway 14 are flooded. Village Creek backing into portions of Newport. These crest are the highest since completion of Bull Shoals Dam in 1951. State Highways 14, 37, 69, 122, 367, and 384 all affected.
31' - Patrolling of Newport, Jacksonport, and Village Creek Levees begins. Homes and businesses inside levee at Newport flooded. State Highways 14, 37, 69, 367, and 384 may all be impacted by flooding with the lower lying highways closed.
30' - Serious flood problems in Jackson and Independence counties. Flooding extends across entire White River Valley downstream of Newport. State Highways 14, 37, 69, and 384 in the vicinity of Newport may all be affected by flooding. Village Creek may be backing into portions of Newport.
28' - Bateman Levee may be threatened with overtopping. State Highway 14 east of Newport at Village Creek could be flooded by backwater. State Highway 14 west of Newport is flooded. State Highway 69 in Independence County may be flooded. Flooding up Village Creek extends to eastern portions of Newport. Extensive flooding of cropland in Jackson and Independence County along the White and the lower Black River. River crested slightly above 28 feet in December 2001 and March 2002.
27' - State Highway 14 between Newport and Oil Trough and State Highway 122 to Newark affected. Possible structural flooding along State Highway 14 in Independence County. Bateman Levee patrolling begins.
26' - Many thousands of acres of cropland are inundated. Water is near State Highway 14. Many private levees are overtopped allowing the river to flood cropland. Water in portions of Jacksonport State Park that are on river side of levee.
21' - Corps regulation stage during the winter months for Bull Shoals and Norfork Reservoir releases.
