About Springfield, South Dakota

Springfield is a city in Bon Homme County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2020 census, and was estimated to be 1,913 in 2023.

As of Fiscal Year 2024, there were 1,088 of the male inmates at Mike Durfee State Prison. Springfield was named on account of there being numerous natural springs in the area.
