By Sunday evening, low level moisture is forecast to gradually increase into Monday. The upper level ridge aloft strengthens Monday through Wednesday, centering over or just east of our area. By Tuesday global models continue to indicate H5 heights of 594dm which translates to the 99th percentile for this time of year aka well above normal high temperatures for the middle of October. .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 545 AM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025
VFR flying through Sunday. Winds at the I-35 sites, light and VRBL become easterly at 5 to 9 KTs by midday, then southerly tonight into Sunday. Winds at KDRT become southeasterly at 8 to 12 KTs later this morning, then easterly around 5 KTs tonight.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 100 AM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025
The lack of significant rainfall over the past month for most locations has led to flash drought conditions. Dry conditions over the next week along with low afternoon humidity, especially Saturday and Sunday, will continue to promote the drying of fuels across the region. Despite relatively weak winds, elevated fire weather conditions are possible the next several days, especially along and east of the I-35 corridor where fuels are more drought stressed.
