.SYNOPSIS... Warm and dry conditions persist through the week.
&&
.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Very dry airmass is in place with ridging at the surface and aloft. Any diurnal cumulus will be quite limited. Gradual warming trend in highs will continue.
&&
.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/... High pressure remains in control Saturday and Saturday night. Warm and partly cloudy conditions are expected during the daytime hours with temperatures topping out in the middle to upper 80s. Despite temperatures being warm, low dew points prevent the heat index from becoming a factor. Increased cloud cover may develop Saturday afternoon as some mesoscale guidance shows an upper level shortwave moving through.
Saturday night is more likely to feature dry conditions for most locations despite there being a slight chance for showers overnight on an upper level shortwave trough. Moisture remains low and forcing remains weak. Forecast lows are in lower 60s.
&&
.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/... Omega blocking pattern across the CONUS generally remains intact throughout the extended forecast period. The Midwest region will be embedded within the amplified H5 ridge, which will be the primary driver for observing above normal temperatures during this stretch. Highs are expected to reach the middle 80s to lower 90s every day. Broad high pressure under this ridge will also help maintain dry conditions at the surface.
While this stagnant weather pattern will result in highs nearing 10 degrees above seasonal norms, dewpoints will still trend on the lower side, typically mixing out into the 50s during the late afternoon when diurnal heating is at its peak. Thus, we won`t feel much impact from the humidity during this hot stretch.
&&
.AVIATION /17Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... VFR conditions are expected for the TAF period. Light and variable winds continue until light southwesterly winds develop Saturday morning.
OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected.
