.DISCUSSION... (Tonight through next Wednesday) Issued at 1108 PM CDT Wed Oct 1 2025

Dry weather with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s will continue on Thursday as surface high pressure prevails. Temperatures this weekend will decrease a degree or two as the center of high pressure weakens and meanders east. Luckily, dewpoints in the 50s will help curb overall humidity levels in the Mid-South through Sunday.

The main thing to watch this forecast period will be the potential development of a low pressure system near the Gulf this weekend. Ensembles continue to vary in precise timing and location of this system, but overall consensus is that enough moisture will funnel into the Mid-South by Monday to support elevated rainfall chances. Daily chances of rain will exist through the middle of next week, though exact totals are hard to pinpoint. Long term forecasts place a cold front approaching the Mid-South by Thursday, which would provide another chance for measurable rainfall in the Mid- South.

.AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1132 PM CDT Wed Oct 1 2025

Latest HRRR guidance suggests isolated patches of fog will be possible near the TN River overnight. For the TAF sites VFR will prevail, with light easterly winds veering to the southeast toward daybreak. Strong upper level ridging and drier air at the surface should limit cumulus coverage Thursday afternoon.

.FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1108 PM CDT Wed Oct 1 2025

Fire weather concerns will remain low over the next several days as MinRH remains above 40% and 20ft winds remain less than 10 mph. Persistent dry conditions will degrade fuel moisture, causing fire danger to rise through early next week.
