.DISCUSSION... Issued at 322 AM CDT Wed Oct 15 2025
Showers associated with mid-level frontogenesis, upper divergence with an upper level jet streak and a weak short-wave trough will taper off from northwest to southeast early this morning. Widespread cloud cover will linger through this morning, followed by clearing from northeast to southwest in the afternoon and early evening. Cool temperatures are expected today, with highs only in the 50s.
Upper level ridging and Canadian high pressure will bring a brief break in the rainfall for most of the area through tonight. Low pressure will track from the Northern Plains into southern Manitoba Thursday into Thursday night, with a 30 to 40 knot low- level jet helping to push a warm front north through WI. The LLJ and frontal passage will bring a chance of showers and a few thunderstorms, though a break is expected to occur as the front lifts north on Friday. Breezy south winds gusting to 25 to 30 mph will help boost Friday`s high temperatures into the upper 60s to middle 70s.
A cold/occluded frontal passage and short-wave energy will bring widespread showers and a few embedded storms to the forecast area Friday night into Saturday, and a surface wave lifting northeast along the front could slow its departure, leading to significant rainfall in eastern WI Saturday afternoon and night. Drier weather should return Sunday night into Monday. After the weekend frontal passage, temperatures return to near normal for the middle of October.
