Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wilmington OH 1247 AM EDT Sun Oct 12 2025

.SYNOPSIS... High pressure will provide for dry conditions through the end of the week. Temperatures will be a few degrees above normal for the next few days before slightly cooler temperatures arrive for mid week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TODAY/... An elongated ridge of surface high pressure will extend down across the Great Lakes and into the Ohio Valley today. With a dry airmass in place, expect mostly sunny skies and temperatures a few degrees above normal. Highs today will be in the low to mid 70s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH 6 PM MONDAY/... Mid level ridging will build into the Ohio Valley tonight into Monday. This will lead to continued dry and mild conditions. Lows tonight will be in the mid 40s to around 50 degrees with highs on Monday in the mid 70s.

&&

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/... The large scale, positively tilted ridge continues to be in control of our sensible weather for the start of the working week. To our northwest, an occluding low over Manitoba continues to work east, further amplifying the ridge and trailing a long cold front down into CONUS/ Great Plains.

We`ll have one more day of ridging and warm air advection, allowing for Tuesday`s highs to be in the upper 70s across the CWA with Tds in the mid 50s before the dry cold front passes through the region. We`ll see a slight uptick in cloud cover with this FROPA, but otherwise this moisture starved front will only act to usher in continental high pressure and cold air advection.

Wednesday`s temperatures look to be about 10 degrees cooler compared to Tuesday and overnight lows begin to fall into the upper 30s Wednesday night and Thursday night. Meanwhile, the ridge that will be over us will be amplified by a longwave disturbance digging in over western Canada. Long range guidance hints at a more active pattern as we head toward the weekend with the eastward movement of the longwave trough and some shortwave disturbances moving through. Current signal suggests a subtle warming trend as we head toward the weekend with the possibility of some much needed rainfall.

&&

.AVIATION /06Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/... Some river valley fog will be possible through day break under clear skies and light winds. This may lead to some MVFR to IFR vsbys restrictions at KLUK. Otherwise, high pressure and a dry airmass will lead to VFR conditions through the TAF period.

OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected.

&&

.ILN WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... OH...None. KY...None. IN...None.
