.SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Saturday Night) Issued at 1001 PM CDT Thu Oct 9 2025

An inverted trough and upper low to the immediate southeast of Middle Tennessee are keeping a few clouds in place in areas to the south and east of Nashville this evening. But the mid state remains rain-free and cool as a surface ridge builds to our northwest. Temperatures the next few nights will remain pleasantly cool, with afternoon highs staying close to seasonal normals as we head into the weekend.

.LONG TERM... (Sunday through next Friday) Issued at 1001 PM CDT Thu Oct 9 2025

High pressure is likely to remain the dominant weather feature across Middle Tennessee for the foreseeable future. Temperatures will warm slowly as we head into next week, then leveling off a few degrees above seasonal normals. Meanwhile, the 19Z NBM output gives us near-zero chances for at least the next 10 days. So who knows when out next meaningful rain event might occur? Indeed, both the 6-10 day and 8-14 day outlooks favor above-normal temperatures and below-normal rainfall across Middle Tennessee. However, in spite of the persistently dry conditions, afternoon RH values should remain sufficiently high to keep us out of any fire weather danger through the 7-day forecast period.
