...New NEAR TERM...

.NEAR TERM... (Tonight) Issued at 240 PM CDT Fri Oct 10 2025

Currently, mid/upr ridging is stretching across the TN Valley, along with generally light NE-E low-lvl flow near the sfc. Small cu have developed in NE and western portions of the area and are do not appear deep enough to have produced showers. A mid/upr wave moving generally S-SE in the mid-Miss Valley has generated showers/storms in that region today, but this has been gradually weakening. This activity will remain well to our west as it continues to weaken, leaving us dry for the rest of the afternoon and tonight. Lows tonight will be near seasonal norms, in the low to mid 50s. Patchy fog could develop later tonight, in the typically favored locations, and mainly our TN counties and portions of NW Alabama, but significant development is not anticipated.

.SHORT TERM... (Saturday through Monday) Issued at 1100 AM CDT Fri Oct 10 2025

Not much change is expected through the weekend and into Monday as the mid/upr trough remains in the East Coast while a shortwave may tend to become partially closed off farther to our SE. This will keep generally lgt N-NE flow across the area and a continuation of dry conditions across the area. Temperatures will tend to be near seasonal norms through the period.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Monday through Thursday) Issued at 948 PM CDT Thu Oct 9 2025

Heading into next week, the upper level ridge to our west amplifies and shifts eastward kicking the trough off the East Coast. High pressure over the western Gulf Coast will keep the persistent dry weather going for the Tennessee Valley through the end of the long term period on Thursday. With a more westerly flow pattern aloft, a gradual warmup is forecast with afternoon highs returning to the lower 80s Monday through Thursday. Overnight lows will also warm back up towards the mid to upper 50s by the middle of next week.

.AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1230 PM CDT Fri Oct 10 2025

VFR conditions are expected for the 24 hour TAF period at KHSV and KMSL. There is a ~20% chance of fog develop INVOF KMSL between 06-13Z, so confidence not sufficiently high to include in TAFs.
