Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 209 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025

...New LONG TERM...

.KEY MESSAGES...

- Dry and warm weather through next weekend.

&&

.SHORT TERM... (This evening through Tuesday) Issued at 1218 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025

Currently, we have an extensive shield of mid and upper level clouds moving into the area, along with a few sprinkles to our west. An upper level trough moving into west Texas is responsible for this increased cloud cover. With the lower heights over the area and cloud cover, temperatures are cooler today than they have been the past couple days. The upper level trough will continue moving slowly to the northeast across the area with the trough axis moving northeast of the area by later tonight/early Tuesday. With more sunshine expected on Tuesday, temperatures will warm back up into the upper 80s to around 90 degrees for highs, after morning lows from the upper 50s to lower 60s. Winds will be light and east to southeast, or light and variable.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Tuesday night through next Monday) Issued at 153 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025

Warm and dry conditions will prevail for our area through the rest of the work week and into the weekend. High pressure over northern Mexico will remain the primary synoptic influence keeping any significant weather systems or fronts from impacting the region. Highs each afternoon will generally be in the lower to mid 90s, with overnight lows in the lower to mid 60s. Over the weekend, an upper level low will deepen across the Rockies with another upper low over the southeastern U.S. High pressure will remain in place between these two systems resulting in unseasonably warm conditions for the first weekend in October.

.AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1218 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025

VFR conditions are expected across the area through the next 24 hours, with extensive mid and upper level clouds across most sites through late tonight. Light and variable or light east/southeasterly winds of less than 10 knots will also continue through Tuesday morning.
