.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGES:
- Cool and mostly dry conditions are expected today.
- Next chance for significant rainfall will be Wednesday through
  early Friday.
- A brief warm up possible this weekend as a ridge moves across
  the area.
WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:
Upper low off the California coast will slowly lift across the
Great Basin and into the northern plains through the end of the
week. A few showers are possible today with southwest flow
bringing moisture into the state, but rain will become more
widespread tonight into Wednesday with development of a central
Rockies lee side low ahead of the upper trough. The stretching of
the low northward should give most of eastern Montana a chance for
up to half an inch of rainfall, but the highest amounts through
Thursday will be across the eastern most zones.
On Friday the low is expected to develop into a deep stacked low
over southern Manitoba. Periodic rain will linger, but mostly
expect some gusty winds before an upper ridge build into the
region over the weekend.
FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
Deviations through this afternoon were focused on the sky
conditions, pops and temperatures. Lingering clouds could inhibit
warming so dropped temperatures a few degrees, and added in some
chances of rain mainly for this morning. Confidence is increasing
for timing of precipitation beginning Wednesday and moving out of
the area Friday. Confidence in exact amounts of precipitation
Wednesday to Friday is still low to medium.

VFR for most of today although isolated showers could drop
ceilings to MVFR. Overnight ceilings will lower with the next
system moving into the region. Widespread rain is expected across
the region on Wednesday.
