Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wilmington OH 754 PM EDT Tue Oct 14 2025

.SYNOPSIS... High pressure will offer quiet and dry conditions through the work week. The next chance of precipitation will arrive with a low pressure system on Saturday.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... Outside of a few shallow cumulus clouds this afternoon, clear skies will continue with surface high pressure through the near term period. A dry cold front will bring slightly cooler temperatures tonight with lows dipping into the upper 40s to lower 50s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT/... Surface high pressure over the upper Great Lakes will provide north to northeast flow through Wednesday and Wednesday night. This is a dry flow with forecast PWATs dropping to around a half-inch to close the period. Cooler temperatures will be in place with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s with lows generally in the 40s.

&&

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... High pressure continues to offer mostly clear skies through Thursday and Friday. Can`t rule out some patchy frost early Friday morning across cool, sheltered locations in central Ohio.

A relatively strong mid-level low will approach the Ohio Valley from the west heading into Saturday. Return flow ahead of a developing surface low will bring a southerly breeze and a quick warm up Saturday with highs approaching 80 degrees by afternoon. Saturday`s record high is 83 in Columbus and 86 in Cincinnati and Dayton.

For this forecast package, it appears most of the instability remains to our southwest on Saturday... though showers and a few storms are still likely later in the day with this vigorous autumn system. The associated cold front moves through our area Saturday night into Sunday morning. This will lead to a cool, breezy day on Sunday. A reinforcing shortwave accompanying the primary 500mb trough moves through Sunday evening into Sunday night. High pressure will offer a return to dry weather to start next week.

&&

.AVIATION /00Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... Prevailing VFR conditions are expected with the exception of LUK where some river fog is forecast. Winds will continue from the northeast with scattered mid and upper level clouds arriving Wednesday morning.

OUTLOOK...Thunderstorms are possible late Saturday.
