.SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Saturday night) Issued at 1248 PM CDT Fri Oct 10 2025
An upper level high was centered over West TX today. Surface high pressure was centered over the Arklatex region making winds across our CWA light and variable. The airmass is drier today with dewpoints 5-10 degrees lower than 24 hours ago. The upper ridge will continue to dominate during the short term keeping our weather dry. The surface high will drift toward east. Winds will remain light and variable overnight, become easterly during the day Saturday, and southerly Saturday night. Mostly clear skies combined with the light winds will allow low temperatures to drop a couple of degrees each night. Highs Saturday will be about the same as Friday.

.LONG TERM... (Sunday through next Friday) Issued at 1248 PM CDT Fri Oct 10 2025
The upper ridge will be pushed toward the east over the beginning of next week, but will force a trough to stay to the northwest. This will keep all forcing to our west and north, so our weather will stay dry. An upper high will reform over TX Tuesday and as you might expect continue the dry weather. Both the GFS and ECMWF have an interesting inverted trough form over the eastern Gulf and move toward the west during the middle of the week. However, once this feature reaches the TX coast it gets tuned back to the east. So, still no rain for us. Temperatures through the long term period will be fairly persistent varying only a degree or two day to day. Highs will be above normal and lows near normal.

.AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1248 PM CDT Fri Oct 10 2025
Winds will remain ENE to easterly through the next 24-30 hours along I-35 and remain mostly below 10 knots. At DRT, a more typical diurnal swing from SE to E from day to night respectively with some occasional PM gusts of 12-18 mph. Skies will be mostly clear with just some fair weather cumulus expected between 15Z and 02Z.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1248 PM CDT Fri Oct 10 2025
The lack of significant rainfall over the past month for most locations has led to flash drought conditions. Dry conditions over the next week along with low afternoon humidity, especially Saturday and Sunday, will continue to promote the drying of fuels across the region. Despite relatively weak winds, elevated fire weather conditions are possible the next several days, especially along and east of the I-35 corridor where fuels are more drought stressed.
