.DISCUSSION... Issued at 210 AM CDT Tue Sep 23 2025

TODAY & TONIGHT: Taking a look at satellite imagery, we`re continuing to monitor what`s left of last night thunderstorm activity which is now south of Highway-20 as of 1 am. While there could be some spotty redevelopment in our southern most counties over the next couple of hours, most of this activity should come to an end by around 3 am to 4 am as the surface boundary continues to progress to the south and east. Shifting gears to our fog potential, could see some additional areas of patchy fog develop mainly across southwestern MN and the SD/MN boarder this morning as lighter surface winds set in. While this could lead to rapid changes in visibility over short distances, should see gradual improvements just after daybreak. From here, much quieter conditions should return as temperatures peak in the low to upper 70s for the day. Looking aloft, could see a spotty shower or two this evening as pieces of lift rotate into the area on the backside of a positively tilted trough. However, accumulations would be minimal (if any). Otherwise, we`ll have to continue to monitor for fog tonight as lingering low-level moisture and lighter surface winds make a conducive environment for development mainly north of I-90.

WEDNESDAY ONWARDS: Looking into the midweek and beyond, quieter conditions likely return by Wednesday as the previously mentioned trough is replaced by a building ridge. Not only will this ridge keep any precipitation chances at bay into the weekend, but also reset our overall pattern. As a result, quasi-zonal flow will return by Friday as temperatures continue to sit in the 70s to mid 80s well into the new week. Otherwise, a cold front will pass through the area between Friday night into Saturday morning. While this near surface feature will be dry, the push of cold air advection (CAA) could lead to a temporary decrease in temperatures by Saturday. Lastly, with our next precipitation chances likely not occurring until the beginning of October; this would be a great time to finish any outdoor projects and/or plan family activities. With this in mind, make sure to take advantage of the beautiful condition!

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z WEDNESDAY/... Issued at 1052 PM CDT Mon Sep 22 2025

VFR conditions across the region currently. There is a low chance that showers may redevelop into the southern portions of our region over the next few hours. Have included a Prob30 group for showers between 23.06-23.09Z.

Winds become light and variable overnight allowing for patchy dense fog development. As a result, a brief period of MVFR ceilings and visibilities is possible toward dawn and may linger into the mid- morning. Winds remain light with mostly clear skies for the remainder of the period.
