.DISCUSSION... Issued at 1233 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025
Tonight
A shortwave trough will move just to our west and north tonight. Soundings remain rather dry, so not anticipating much of a chance of rain. Low temperatures will range from the mid-50s to lower 60s.
Tuesday through Friday
A 500 mb ridge of high pressure will keep the area dry and unseasonably warm (10 to 15 degrees above normal). High temperatures will primarily range from the upper 70s to mid-80s. There might be a small chance of showers just west and northwest of the area on Wednesday night. Other than that the Upper Midwest looks to remain dry.
Next Weekend
The 500 mb ridge slides just far enough east that some shortwave troughs ejecting out of the western longwave trough may bring some rain chance to the area. In addition, there are some indications that a surface front may meander across the region. High temperatures will range from mid-70s to mid-80s.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z WEDNESDAY/... Issued at 637 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025
Fog overnight tonight is the primary aviation concern with some possible along and east of an EAU-OVS line. However, limiting factor for fog appears to be efficient mixing that occurred during the day Monday leading to relatively large dewpoint depressions at issuance time. Within river valleys, including LSE, light wind layer and overnight wind direction do strongly point to valley fog but concerns about reaching saturation are present there as well. Have elected to cover fog potential with a BCFG mention but will monitor dewpoint depression through the evening and amend to IFR/LIFR fog if necessary.
