WV imagery indicates an upper level shortwave trough pushing east through Oklahoma and north Texas. Near the surface, a weak lee side trough of low pressure remains anchored in eastern Colorado.
Relatively dry and unseasonably warm temperatures are forecast to continue early in the period as the SREF indicates a weak westerly flow aloft persisting across the Western High Plains tonight, then becoming northwesterly Wednesday as ridging aloft builds in across the Desert Southwest. However, with limited instability (MUCAPE less than 500 J/kg) present, precip chance are likely to remain limited the next 24-48 hours, especially as ridging aloft builds in from the southwest. However, there is a weak QPF signal across south central Kansas and eastern portions of southwest Kansas toward daybreak Wednesday morning suggesting an outside chance (
