.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Issued at 301 AM MDT Wed Sep 24 2025
Early this morning, some wrap-around rain showers were ongoing across the plains associated with a positively leaning partially closed low over central KS. Quite a bit of clouds were noted over the lower elevations east of the mtns associated with this trough. Otherwise, it was rather cool over the area as temps over the plains were in the 40s and 50s with 30s in the valleys and 20s and 30s in the mtns.
Today...
Precip over the plains this morning is expected to dissipate/move out of the region towards sunrise, and clouds will gradually dissipated from west to east as the morning progresses. Some patchy fog cant be ruled out over the San Luis Valley and the Monument Hill areas. Overall later this morning through afternoon should be very nice day as mostly clear skies are anticipated and max temps will most be in the 70s across the plains and 60s across the large valleys. winds will generally be light, mainly from a northeasterly direction over the plains later today. Winds will be light over the mtns.
Tonight
Main concerns will be another round of cool temps over the San Luis valley which will warrant another frost advisory for the San Luis Valley. Most of the colder temps in the SLV will be over the central and southern part of the valley. Otherwise, expect min temps over the plains to be in the 40s.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 301 AM MDT Wed Sep 24 2025
Omega pattern will develop over the region later this week as two slow moving closed mid level circulations, one over the east central part of te country and the other over the SW CONUS, move slowly east. This will keep warm conditions over the fcst area, with dry conditions expected THU and only isold mtns activity on Friday.
By this weekend, a better chance of showers will occur over the mountains, especially along the CONTDVD, as the closed circulation over the SW moves towards the region.
Early next week, the closed low lifts northeast and opens up, and this will bring some troughieness over the region. This will allow for sctd/isold pops over the fcst area during the afternoon time period. Temps should be around seasonable values. /Hodanish
