.DISCUSSION... Issued at 213 PM CDT Mon Oct 13 2025

Clearing will continue to make its way west through the early evening, with mostly clear skies expected tonight. The mostly clear skies and light winds will allow for abundant radiational cooling overnight, allowing temperatures to plummet across the region. Lows tonight are expected to fall to around 30 across the north, with middle 40s along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

North to northeast winds will bring cooler temperatures on Tuesday, as highs only rise into the 50s across the north and around 60 across the Fox Valley and lakeshore. Dry weather is expected for much of Tuesday, with a shortwave bringing a chance for some showers Tuesday night. The best chances (40-60 percent) will be south of highway 29 where the best 700-850 mb frontogenesis will reside with lesser chances (30-40 percent) across northern Wisconsin just north of the main frontogenesis.

After a brief period of dry weather Wednesday and Wednesday night, the chance for rain will return Thursday and continue through the weekend as several low pressure systems and associated mid level shortwaves track through the area. Despite the prolonged period of rain chances, the rain itself looks to be light and showery and by no means several days of heavy rain. There will also very likely be dry periods intermixed during these periods; however, these are difficult to parse out this far in the forecast as the NWP models diverge this far out. Temperatures will warm back up to above normal by the end of the week.

.AVIATION...for 18Z TAF Issuance Issued at 1204 PM CDT Mon Oct 13 2025

Skies will continue to clear from west to east this afternoon as a cold front tracks through, clearing out a VFR/MVFR deck across the region with mostly clear skies and VFR skies behind the clearing. Some mid and upper clouds will move in across the area later tonight into Tuesday as VFR conditions continue. South winds will shift to the west-northwest behind the front, generally under 12 kts. Light winds will then prevail tonight into Tuesday.
