Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wilmington OH 1254 PM EDT Mon Sep 29 2025

.SYNOPSIS... High pressure will lead to dry and mild conditions through the week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... An expansive surface high pressure system centered over Ontario and extending southward into the Ohio Valley will provide for dry and mostly clear skies again tonight. With light winds, some river valley fog will develop later tonight. Overnight lows will be in the mid 50s to lower 60s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/... Subsidence will persist across our area Tuesday into Tuesday night as we remain on the northwest side of the tropical activity off the Southeast Coast. Suppose we could see some high level clouds sneak into mainly our far southeast/east, but generally expect sunny to mostly clear conditions to prevail. We will remain seasonably warm with highs on Tuesday in the mid 80s and lows Tuesday night in the 50s.

&&

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY/... On Wednesday morning, a large upper ridge will extend from the Mississippi Valley through the Great Lakes, with surface high pressure covering much of the Ohio Valley, Great Lakes, northeastern states, and Ontario/Quebec. These features will gradually shift to the east and southeast through the rest of the week and into the weekend, but they will remain the dominant weather features for the ILN CWA through the extended forecast period. With a very dry air mass in place, skies will likely remain mostly clear through the forecast period, with little if any chances for rain. The forecast through the weekend will thus remain dry. At some point early next week, as the ridge moves toward the east coast, some return to a more moist flow pattern may end up occurring by next Monday or Tuesday.

In terms of temperatures, a general downward trend will be in progress through Wednesday and Thursday, with easterly / northeasterly flow on the southeastern periphery of the surface high. This will bring high temps to the upper 70s on Thursday, which will be the coolest day of the week, but is still a few degrees above normal. Once the high moves further east and southeast, boundary layer flow will pick up more of a southerly component, and a warming trend will occur through the rest of the extended forecast period.

&&

.AVIATION /16Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/... High pressure and a dry airmass will lead to mainly clear conditions through the TAF period. The one exception will be the development of river valley fog once again late tonight into Tuesday morning. This will lead to the potential for some IFR vsbys restrictions at KLUK.

OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected.
