&&

.SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Saturday night) Issued at 1255 PM CDT Thu Sep 18 2025

Hot and quiet for the short term. A few showers may develop in inland areas today, but dry air moving in will keep most rain chances away. Expect much of the same Saturday.

Highs in the lower to mid 90s can be expected today through Saturday. Dry air will keep moisture and max HIs in the mid to upper 90s.

.LONG TERM... (Sunday through next Wednesday) Issued at 1255 PM CDT Thu Sep 18 2025

Another wave is expected to move across on Sunday with moisture and increased rain chances oozing up the coastline with its passage.

Moving into Monday and beyond, an upper trof slowly swings in and situates itself over the eastern US with trof axis sitting around the FL/AL line. A series of waves will move into the western edge of this trof increasing rain chances each day through the mid week.

.AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1255 PM CDT Thu Sep 18 2025

A few isolated showers may develop across areas, but largely low CIGs to around 2500 ft are ongoing with variable winds.

Conditions quiet down after sundown with a few patches of fog possible just prior to sunrise.

.MARINE... Issued at 1255 PM CDT Thu Sep 18 2025

Winds and seas will be low through the first part of next work week. An upper trof sets up across the northern Gulf. A series of waves moving through the trof will bring about periods of disturbed weather with locally elevated winds and seas.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1255 PM CDT Thu Sep 18 2025

For the most part, conditions continue to be hot and dry. Isolated showers will be possible with daytime heating this afternoon.

Hot and dry can be expected Saturday with little to no rain chances anticipated. Upper wave moves across Texas into Sunday which should bring isolated rain chances to coastal southeast Texas in the afternoon. Daytime RH values in the 30 to 50 percent are expected. Area KBDI values have nudged into the 600s+, making fire weather danger an increasing concern in this dry pattern. However, winds are also very low which is keeping the threat rather contained at this time.
