.SYNOPSIS... High pressure will persist over the region through the weekend before shifting east as a cold front approaches from the west early next week. The front will likely cross the local area Tuesday into Wednesday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/... High pressure will maintain influence over the northeastern United States through Friday with dry weather and warming temperatures anticipated across the local area through the near term period. Chilly temperatures in the 40s and 50s early this morning will rise into the 70s this afternoon, however a few spots from roughly Bowling Green to Mount Vernon may touch 80 degrees this afternoon. Tonight`s lows will be chilly but a few degrees warmer than Wednesday night; upper 40s to lower 50s are anticipated across the majority of the area with typical cold spots in interior NW PA possibly dipping into the low to mid 40s. Friday`s highs will be in the 70s and 80s.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/... Above normal temperatures and dry weather will continue through the weekend as the aforementioned high remains parked over the northeastern CONUS. Widespread highs in the upper 70s and mid to upper 80s are expected Saturday and Sunday. The warmest temperatures in the mid to upper 80s are likely across the western half of the local area, primarily on Saturday. Lows will generally be in the 50s each night.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... The weather pattern will finally begin to shift early next week as the high drifts east and a cold front approaches from the west. The majority of Monday should be dry, however the chance of scattered showers will begin to increase Monday night. The front will likely move east across the CWA at some point Tuesday into Wednesday, during which time precipitation chances will peak. Above normal temps will likely remain well above normal on Monday before gradually decreasing and possibly falling to below normal values by Wednesday.

.MARINE... Wave heights continue to decrease early today as winds become southeasterly 5-10kts with a brief period of northeasterly winds 5-10kts this afternoon from a lake breeze. Winds then light and variable to offshore 5-10kts Friday through the weekend with wave heights less than a foot as high pressure controls the region.
