.DISCUSSION... 9:15 PM Update:
- High Wind Warning and Lake Wind Advisory have been allowed to expire, wind speeds and gusts have lowered and no longer meet warning thresholds.
KEY MESSAGES:
- Below normal temperatures are expected into Saturday with some places possibly experiencing a freeze Saturday morning.
- A warm-up is expected starting this weekend.
WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Cooler air has been filtering into the CWA today behind a cold frontal passage this morning. Stacked low over southern Manitoba will allow for a cloud shield to move south into ND tonight keeping areas along the ND border slower to clear out with diminishing wind, which is expected over the western zones. Many areas tonight will drop into the 30s but a widespread freeze is not expected.
Friday should feature a much quieter day with lighter winds and sunshine.
An upper ridge over the Pacific NW is expected to flatten while it drifts into Montana by early next week. This will allow for mainly clear skies and temps rebounding into the 80s.
Then an upper low will push into the Pacific NW that splits with a piece looking to break off into the Canadian Prairies. This set-up may give the area the chance of thunderstorms Wednesday as some moisture and instability from the Dakotas moves into the area.
FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Mainly stayed with NBM but blended the NBM90 into the winds through Friday and blended NBM25 for low temperatures tonight and Friday night. TFJ/RDJ
