- Dry conditions continue with no rainfall expected the rest of
  the work week.
- Rain and thunderstorms possible on Sunday, mostly in far northwest
   Georgia. Precipitation amounts unlikely to make a significant
   difference in drought conditions with the luckiest getting
   0.5-1.0" of rainfall.
- Temperatures remain warm through the weekend, with a cool off early
     next week.

Ridging and high pressure will continue to be the main story for
the short term with dry and sunny conditions expected through mid
to late week. A high pressure center will further settle into the
southeast over today and tomorrow which will further enhance the
already dry and warming conditions. With the pattern dominated by
high pressure and little to no cloud cover temps will easily warm
to the low to mid 80s today at ~10 degrees above normal. Tomorrow
will see much of the same weather with temps in the low 80s (~10
degrees above normal) and clear skies. Morning temps in the mid to
upper 50s are forecast for the next two mornings which is still
~5 degrees above normal.

Not much change in the forecast Thursday and Friday. Highs near 80
with dry conditions. The cutoff low traversing around the southern
side of the ridge will get pulled into the meridional flow, dragging
some moisture with it. At this time, models seem to be preferring a
faster moving system which brings the low through before our next
weather maker.
Saturday and Sunday brings a substantial trough across the central
CONUS, likely bringing a decent cold front with it through the
mid Mississippi valley. That said, impact to the area will likely
be brief as the trough begins to lift as the base moves through
the southeast and the front weakens. Showers and thunderstorms are
likely along the front on Sunday morning into the afternoon. The
greatest chances for any notable rainfall amounts will be in
northwest GA where the front is strongest. As the forcing moves
east across the state though, support will begin to weaken and
thunderstorm coverage will drop with it. That said, afternoon
heating may be possible in more clear areas which could bring a
few scattered thunderstorms down into central Georgia. Rainfall
totals currently look to be around 0.5" in northwest Georgia and
less than 0.25" in central Georgia. Far northwest Georgia may be
the luckiest with up to a full inch of rain through Monday
morning. No matter the outcome, precipitation is unlikely to make
much headway in drought conditions.
Post frontal conditions early next week will likely be unimpressive.
Temperatures could rebound back to above normal (near 80) alongside
weak ridging.

Another SKC day today with winds being the main reason for
multiple lines. Winds should turn NE in the next hour where they
will stay until ~18z when they turn back to the NW and then again
tomorrow evening ~07z turn back to the NE. All speeds are at 7kt
or less.
