.SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Thursday Night) Issued at 1022 PM CDT Tue Oct 7 2025
A cold front will continue making its way through the area tonight. While it does so, there does remain low chances (10-20%) for light showers overnight, mainly along the Plateau. But by daybreak, the front will have cleared the area, and dry conditions will once again make their return to Middle TN. Northerly winds post-front will be brisk with occasional gusts of 15-25 mph, and temperatures will be much cooler with highs in the 70s. Cloud cover will be persistent throughout much of the day Wednesday, but will clear by the evening hours. With a much cooler airmass in place and mostly clear skies, lows Wednesday night and into Thursday morning will be chilly with temperatures falling into the mid and upper-40s for much of the area. Calm weather continues into Thursday with highs in the upper-60s along the upper Plateau and in the 70s elsewhere.

.LONG TERM... (Friday through next Wednesday) Issued at 1022 PM CDT Tue Oct 7 2025
A benign weather pattern persists through the long-term as weak ridging results in a gradual warm-up. Highs each day will warm a few degrees so that by Sunday, many locations will be near 80 once again. And temperatures will even be in the mid-80s during the middle of next week. As for rain, there`s none in the forecast through at least Wednesday and likely beyond as ridging dominates.

.AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 1022 PM CDT Tue Oct 7 2025
A surface cold front has made almost all the way through Middle Tennessee as we head into the evening. There are some lingering showers still impacting the Cumberland Plateau, but for the bulk of the mid state, the showers have ended. There will be a break of a few hours between the fropa and the onset of low ceilings as a swath of post-frontal moisture swings through the region beginning later this evening. Overnight radiation fog will be present but limited owing to winds staying up a few knots with the wind shift. Low ceilings will be slow to erode during the day tomorrow.
