Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wilmington OH 154 PM EDT Fri Sep 5 2025

.SYNOPSIS... Precipitation will be possible through Saturday as a frontal boundary approaches and moves through the region. There will be the potential that some of the storms through this evening will be severe. Dry conditions will return for Saturday night through at least Thursday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... An extensive cu field has developed near and southeast of Interstate 71. This will be the focus area for showers and thunderstorm this afternoon and into the evening hours. The environment for the severe threat is generally limited to the southeastern portions of the region across the lower Scioto Valley and portions of northern Kentucky. Damaging winds will be primary threat, but large hail and a brief isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

There will be a range in temperatures this afternoon with mid to upper 80s expected across southeastern portions of the area and middle to upper 70s expected northwest of Dayton.

Additional shower and thunderstorm activity is expected overnight as the upper level disturbance moves through the region. Thunderstorm activity will again be focused across more the southeastern portions of the forecast area, however lingering showers further to the northwest will be possible.

Cooler air works into the region tonight with lows in the 50s expected overnight.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY/... A cooler day is in store for Saturday with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s expected in most locations. There will still be some shower activity, primarily southeast of Interstate 71, during the morning and then tapering off during the afternoon. Cold air advection cu will also be present.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/... Dry conditions are expected through the long term. Sunday and Sunday night will see the coolest conditions with highs in the 60s to 70s and lows in the low to middle 40s. There will be a gradual warming trend through Wednesday with similar temperatures on Thursday.

.AVIATION /18Z FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... Most cigs are VFR this afternoon, however cannot rule out brief MVFR cigs near the start of the TAF period at KILN, KCMH, and KLCK. A few showers will be possible this afternoon around these three same locations as well. Gusty winds around 20 to 25 knots are expected at all area TAF sites this afternoon and into the evening hours before decreasing. Timed in some additional light showers at the TAF sites overnight associated with the upper level disturbance. The heaviest activity is expected to stay southeast of the area TAF sites. There will be some wind shifts through the TAF period. Additional cu and mid clouds will be present for the day on Saturday.

OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected.
