.SHORT TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/... Key Message:
- Widespread frost/freezing temperatures expected for tonight/Friday morning across most of eastern NY/western New England, where a Freeze Warning is now in effect.
Discussion:
As of 130 AM EDT, patchy clouds continue to stream south/southeast across portions of the Hudson Valley region and east into the Taconics/Berkshires. These clouds may linger overnight before eroding closer to daybreak.
Expect a mostly sunny but chilly day today with temperatures only reaching the lower/mid 50s for most valley areas, and 45-50 across higher terrain.
Cold tonight with widespread frost/freezing temperatures expected. We have upgraded the Freeze Watch to a Freeze Warning for all areas outside of the southwest Adirondacks where the growing season has already ended. Lows ranging from the mid 20s to lower 30s.
Continued fair weather Friday along with cool temperatures, with highs reaching the mid 50s to lower 60s in valleys, and lower/mid 50s across higher terrain. Still chilly Friday night, with lows in the 30s for most areas, and some additional frost/freeze headlines likely will be needed, especially across portions of the upper Hudson Valley into western New England. Patchy fog may be a bit greater in coverage Friday night/Saturday morning within river valleys.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... Continued fair weather Saturday with more seasonable temperatures reaching the 60s for most areas, with lows Saturday night in the mid 30s to lower/mid 40s.
Coastal storm looks to track northward along mid Atlantic coast for Sunday through early next week, though it may tend to loop back southward. Some bands of rain should reach areas along and south of I-90 Sunday afternoon, and possibly north of I-90 Sunday night, with periods of rain/drizzle possibly lingering through Wednesday as the storm system only slowly departs. It also looks breezy, especially across the mid Hudson Valley, Taconics and NW CT, where some gusts of 25-35 mph could occur late Sunday into Monday.
With prospects for clouds and some rain, daytime highs should remain below normal Sunday-Monday with highs mainly in the 50s and lows in the 40s. Slight warming possible by Tuesday- Wednesday, with high temps reaching the lower/mid 60s, though could remain cooler if thicker clouds/areal coverage of rain remains greater. Lows mainly in the 40s.
