.KEY MESSAGES...
- Showers and thunderstorms mainly in the Idaho Panhandle again Friday.
- Areas of smoke and haze through the weekend, especially near wildfires.
&&
.SYNOPSIS... Showers and thunderstorms will continue through Friday, generally confined to the Idaho panhandle and extreme southeastern Washington. Areas of smoke and haze are expected to continue through at least the weekend, especially near wildfires.
&&
.DISCUSSION... A moist and unstable airmass will lead to continued chances for showers and thunderstorms across the ID panhandle and extreme southeast WA through Friday. Daytime temperatures will remain above normal, by around 4-8 degrees for most locations. A passing short-wave ridge will lead to continued warm and generally dry conditions for Saturday. However, this will be quickly followed by another disturbance early next week, with chances for showers and beneficial rain returning Sunday and into Monday. Afternoon temperatures will become about 10-15 degrees cooler early next week as well, ending our rather persistent period of significantly warmer-than-normal conditions.
For the extended portion of the forecast (next Tuesday through Thursday), most models indicate a ridge returning, with temps not straying far from normal and any light precip chances confined to the Cascades. /KD
