.DISCUSSION... Issued at 102 PM CDT Tue Oct 7 2025

The semi-permanent subtropical ridge that has largely controlled the weather over our region the past few weeks will continue to be the primary influence for us going through the remainder of the week and into the weekend. This will result in more dry weather with seasonably warm temperatures that are a little above normal.

Through tonight: Scattered light showers associated with a weak cold front pushing slowly southeast into the area will diminish quickly with sunset. The combination of the weak frontal boundary moving into a very humid boundary layer will result in areas of fog over southeast portions of the forecast area, and we are messaging for a limited threat of dense fog. /EC/

Wednesday through Monday: Any fog should lift and dissipate by mid morning. Thereafter, the weak cold front will continue to shift south and eventually out of the area as we go into Thursday, bringing a noticeable decrease in moisture and humidity. This will significantly limit rain chances over the remainder of the week into early next week. While temperature change will be less significant behind the front, and the drier air will allow daytime temperatures to remain close to normal, overnights and mornings should be noticeably cooler, albeit still near seasonal norms. /DL/EC/

.AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1223 PM CDT Tue Oct 7 2025

A mix of VFR/MVFR flight categories will prevail at area TAF sites through much of the period. This is mainly as a result of low stratus across the area as a weak frontal boundary slowly pushes east through the area. While stratus will continue to be an issue overnight, fog development will be possible across mainly east and southeast Mississippi toward day break Wednesday. Some of this fog could be dense, lowering visibilities to MVFR/IFR categories for a few hours. Both fog and low stratus will erode through the morning Wednesday, with a return to mainly VFR categories anticipated heading into the Wednesday afternoon. Winds in the wake of this boundary will become northwesterly between 3-5 knots, but will become calm to light from the northwest this evening and overnight. /19/
