.SHORT TERM... (Today through Thursday Night) Issued at 1258 AM CDT Wed Oct 15 2025

The upper level ridging continues to dominate the local area during the short term period. However, it weakens throughout the day on Wednesday as an upper level low pressure system over central California moves into central and eastern Nevada and an upper level inverted trough moves across South Texas. At the surface, increased moisture arrives from the Gulf and pushes pwat values ranging from 1.2 to 1.4 inches (based on the 18Z GFS solution) mainly along the Rio Grande Plains. There are several hires models showing light simulated reflectivity over parts of eastern Mexico, but the Rio Grande and the rest of the local area stays dry with mostly sunny skies during the afternoon hours and highs in the mid to upper 80s into the lower 90s. A light wind flow from the east and northeast is forecast for Wednesday mainly across the Hill Country, I-35 corridor, and Coastal Plains with minimum relative humidity coming down to the lower 20 percent range. With fuel dryness level forecast to be on the dry category, can`t rule out fires to ignite mainly over parts of the Hill Country, I-35 corridor, and Coastal Plains both Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.

The dry weather pattern prevails on Wednesday evening through Thursday evening. Overnight lows are forecast to range from the mid 50s to mid 60s areawide. Thursday`s high temperatures remain above normal climate values ranging from the mid 80s to lower 90s.

.LONG TERM... (Friday through Tuesday) Issued at 1258 AM CDT Wed Oct 15 2025

By Friday into Friday evening, the upper level flow comes from the southwest as an upper level short wave moves across the four corners region into the Southern Plains. A surface southeast flow is forecast to dominate the local area with increased moisture from the Gulf spreading across the Coastal Plains and areas along and east of Highway 77. There is a slight to low end chance (20 to 30 percent) for showers and Thunderstorms mainly east of Highway 77 on Friday afternoon.

The upper level short waves then pushes across South Central Texas on Saturday with a weak frontal passage moving over the Hill Country and I-35 corridor, but it does not cross the Coastal Plains. There is a slight chance for a few showers and storms mainly east of Highway 77 in the afternoon. High temperatures remain above normal around the mid to upper 80s to lower and mid 90s.

The upper level ridge build backs by Sunday and marks the return of dry weather to begin a new week.
