...New AVIATION...
.NEAR TERM... (Today) Issued at 409 AM CDT Sat Sep 6 2025
Overnight showers and thunderstorms have finally pushed east into GA this morning. A brief lull in the activity is being observed across the local forecast area ahead of an approaching cold front. Based on radar and sfc observations, the cold front stretches across central TN southwestward towards the AR/MS border. CAMs continue to show showers and thunderstorms developing along or just ahead of the cold front arriving into northwest AL just before sunrise. These will then push eastward through the morning hours. Would not be surprised to see a few strong storms with model soundings showing 1000-1500 j/kg of CAPE and 30 kts of shear. Main concern would be gusty winds 40-50 mph. Precip should move fast enough to limit flooding concerns but with PWs between 1.5-1.75 inches, expect to see 1-2 inch/hr rain rates in the strongest thunderstorms.
By this afternoon, the cold front should push south and east of the forecast area bringing in a drier and cooler airmass. Afternoon highs will only climb into the mid to upper 70s. While it will take sometime for the drier air to make it into the Tennessee Valley, sfc dewpoints will be falling this afternoon making for a comfortable early September day.

.AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 622 AM CDT Sat Sep 6 2025
Thunderstorms along and ahead of an approaching cold front will impact the terminals this morning. Expect reductions in both visibility and ceiling within any stronger storm with the potential for gusts up to 20kts. For now kept conditions only at MVFR but amendments may be needed if conditions upstream show lower conditions. The front clears the terminals by late morning into the early afternoon and the winds will shift to the north and a return to VFR flight conditions.
