.DISCUSSION... Issued at 1200 AM CDT Sun Oct 12 2025

A cutoff upper low over the southeast states opens up into a trough and ejects northeast across the Mid-Atlantic states today into Monday. This feature will keep dry deep layer northerly flow in place over the forecast area, likewise keeping the forecast dry. Given the dry air, light low level winds, and mostly clear skies over the area, we will likely see a rather large diurnal cycle each day through Tuesday. Afternoon highs warm above normal into the lower to middle 80`s today and middle to upper 80`s Monday into Tuesday. Overnight lows will be decently below normal tonight and Monday night with lows falling into the lower to middle 50`s for most locations.

As we head into mid-week upper ridging starts to build in putting the area underneath a prevailing deep layer easterly to northeasterly flow. This will help to warm temperatures even more with highs the rest of the week topping out in the middle to upper 80`s, perhaps even a couple spots reaching 90 Wednesday through Friday. Overnight lows follow suit warming into the middle and upper 50`s inland and lower 60`s nearer the coast Tuesday night through Friday night. We may finally see isolated shower and storm coverage try to return to the forecast next weekend as upper ridging breaks down and upper troughing tries to move into the region. A Low risk of rip currents continues through the week. MM/25
