* Warm and dry weather with breezy afternoon winds prevail through
  the weekend.
* Increasing winds peak on Monday when travel and recreation impacts
  will be most likely.
* Fall-like weather arrives next week with well below normal
  temperatures, and increased shower and storm chances.

.DISCUSSION...
A significant change in the weather pattern will introduce fall-like
weather during the upcoming week as strong low pressure pivots
through the region. The most notable changes this weekend will be
slightly cooler temperatures -- albeit still warm -- and an uptick
in afternoon breezes. SW/W gusts will reach 20-30 mph each afternoon
this weekend, so minor impacts to travel and recreation will be
possible. Areas of elevated fire weather conditions will also be
possible, especially in the Sierra Front. Winds are favored to peak
on Monday with gusts reaching 30-40 mph in the afternoon, so be
prepared for additional travel and recreation impacts. Humidity will
rise above critical thresholds on Monday, precluding a greater fire
threat. Winds remain breezy after Monday, but will gradually taper
through the week.
Of greater note will be the well below average temperatures next
week with daytime highs projected to be in the 60s and 70s.
Nighttime low will also likely fall to near/below freezing in the
High Sierra and cold prone Sierra valleys. Shower and thunderstorm
chances increase Monday through Wednesday with areas near the Oregon
border having the greatest chances. However, this will largely
depend on the trajectory of the low pressure area so there is some
uncertainty. The low will depart the region at the end of the week,
allowing a slow warming and drying trend into the following weekend.

Widespread VFR conditions and breezy afternoon winds will prevail
through the weekend. Minor mountain wave turbulence and LLWS impacts
will be possible this evening as S/SW FL100 winds increase to 25-35
kts. Lingering smoke will continue to impacts slantwise visibilities
in the mornings and evenings, especially at KMMH.
